After a few rolling hills, the last significant hill on the course presents itself in the tenth mile. Take the same approach and run marathon effort up and down the hill.

Solicitor Alan Lumley, 31, from Cheadle Hulme , who had completed ten previous runs including half-marathons, collapsed as he ran through Morley Green at the mile mark close to the finish line on Sunday.
His girlfriend Nicky Harris was also running the race. Paramedics treated Alan at the scene and took him to Wythenshawe Hospital. The University of Manchester graduate later died on Sunday – his 31st birthday. The death is the second in two years at the event. Last year Ben Smith, 27, from Sale, collapsed a mile before the finish line. Paramedics were unable to revive him and he died on the course.
Our thoughts are with his family at this very sad time. He had done ten races including half marathons before. He did a lot of training. We are at a loss to understand how this has happened. He was loyal, thoughtful and was liked and admired by everyone he met. Due to his sharp intellect and captivating personality he had established a successful career which showed great promise.

Around his junior year of high school, Tropf went to cross country camp in Northeast Ohio. He met a girl there. Her name was Hannah Neczypor. She was from Cuyahoga County, like him.
